Croatia, more than just beautiful beaches
As their food, Croatian culture is also a mix of other ones, they combine Mediterranean lifestyle with Slavic roots. Croatian, a South Slavic language, is their official language, but Italian is also spoken in the region of Istria and most young people speak English. You can try saying some words in Croatian, like Zdravo, which means hello, but the difficult pronunciation makes it almost impossible to learn a few words in just one week or two. Croatians are known for their hospitality and warmth, they treat guests as family, even if they seem a little bit distant at the beginning. They have a very calm lifestyle and often spend several hours talking and drinking coffee. They also tend to be religious, especially Catholic and they take their traditions very seriously. However, one of their most remarkable traits is their humour ironic and mocking, a characteristic they reveal by creating museums like the Museum of Broken Relationships in Zagreb, where people send presents their exes gave them and their story and then they are shown to the rest of the world.
