MUST-SEE SIGHTS IN CROATIA

 If Croatia is on your travel list, there is a bunch of places you can't miss, from ancient Roman ruins to impressive lakes, Croatia has a wide range of tourist attractions that will appeal to everyone, from kids to people interested in culture or just those who want a relaxing holiday. 

Dubrovnik: the Pearl of the Adriatic

In first place, Dubrovnik's Old Town, a perfectly preserved medieval city that will transport you to the Middle Ages when walking through it's narrow streets and multiple stairs, all built in stone and polished marble, creating the perfect atmosphere. Surrounded by massive stone walls, this city full of history with its red-roofed buildings will instantly make you fall in love. One of the best ways to visit the city is by walking the city walls during the sunset, you will see the tiny boats in the harbor, the entire city getting lit by the restaurant’s candles and behind the rooftops, the Adriatic sea. Eventhough there are lots of monuments in these city and you will find places that sell a pass to enter all of them, the best part of Dubrovnik is walking it's streets and getting lost among the hoses that rise at one side of the city, finding an infinity of viewpoints from which you can see the entire city.




Plitvice Lakes National Park: a hiking experience for everyone

Croatia’s most enchanting national park, a series of sixteen terraced lakes connected by several waterfalls, some of them quiet and calmed, others strong and powerful. The wooden boardwalks placed through all the park allow you to go over the water, crossing the lakes and appreciating all the shades the water acquires, from an emerald green to a deep turquoise blue.

Although there is more than one route you can choose, try to make the longest one. At first it will seem to much, but as soon as you start walking, you will forget the number of kilometers you saw on the map and lose yourself into the sound of water flowing and the smell of grass.

For those of you hwo don't love hiking, don't worry! The paths are perfectly adapted and even if at the beginning the lop lake seems too far, the moment you see the first waterfall you will be eager to discover what is waiting for you at the highest poin, a series of waterfalls, small fishes and butterflies that merge creating the perfect atmosphere for a peaceful walk. And if at the end you are too tyred to go back down, there is always a bus that drives you to where you started!




Split and Diocletian's Palace

Built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian as his retirement place, this 1700-year-old roman palace is still alive. Full of shops, cafes and restaurants, it looks like the emperor still lived here, but in a 21st century version. Its narrow streets with an entangled pattern will surprise you in every turn you make with towering columns, marble courtyards and underground chambers that once held soldiers.

In ancient times the city was divided between the area the emperor used for his personal delight and the one where al the soldiers, workers and slaves that kept the palace running for years lived. This two parts met at a square where the emperor would let himself be seen by the rest of the people from time to time. After the death of the emperor the palace was deserted for some time, but then families started installing themselves there, occupying the former palace and transforming it into the residential complex it is nowadays.


Zadar: the voice of the sea

A coastal city in Croatia that mixes ancient history and modern creativity. It's charming Old Town is full of Roman ruins and  medieval churches. Some of these churches have accessible towers, that enable you to have a panoramic view of the entire city.

Some of its most unique tourist attractions are the Greeting to the Sun, a monument to the Sun that lights at night producing a light show and the Sea Organ, which plays music thanks to the movement of sea waves and a set of tubes carved into the stone stairs.

Known for having one of the most breathtaking sunsets🌅 in the world, when the night gets closer, the Sun goes down, hidding behind the islands that surround the coast of Zadar and creating a gradient of colours that goes from an intense red to a vibrant pink. This stunning sunset can be seen from the bridge that connects the Old Town to the rest of the city, surrounded by boats and with a perfect view to the skyline formed by all the churches or from the Sea Organ, listening at the same time to the music created by the sea.

The Island of Hvar

Located on the Dalmatian coast, Hvar island is one of the most iconic Croatian destinations. Famous for its crystal-clear waters, historic towns and lavender fields, the island offers a great variety of culture and nature.
Hvar Town has a combination of ancient architecture, squares full of live and modern beach clubs, all guarded by the tophill Fortrica Fortress, which grants you panoramic views of the city and the Pakleni islands. If you walk through this small town you will find Venetian style buildings everywhere.

Although it is known for its nightlife and party, Hvar can also have a peaceful side with hidden beaches, lavender fields and delightful villages. This island is popular for being one of the most sunniest places
